Marissa Aroy has worked in all aspects of media production for over a decade. She received an Emmy for the documentary “Sikhs in America,” which she produced and directed and is currently producing and directing a PBS program on Filipino American history called “The Delano Manongs: Forgotten Heroes of the United Farm Workers to be broadcasted in PBS in May of this year. She also produced and directed “Little Manila,” for PBS and produced “Sounds of Hope” and “Uneasy Peace” for PBS’ Frontline World. Aroy worked as a video producer for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and was in Tacloban, Philippines for four months during the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. A Fulbright scholar, Aroy was named “One of the Most Influential Filipina Women in the US” by the Filipina Women’s Network in 2009 and one of the “Notable Entertainers of 2014” by the Center for Asian American Media. Aroy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston College and a master’s degree in journalism from University of California, Berkeley.
